Rwanda Clinches Top Spot in Africa for Global Sovereign Debt Transparency
In an exceptional historic debut, Rwanda has emerged as one of Africa’s top-performing economies in the 2026 IIF Investor Relations and Debt Transparency Report. Scoring an impressive 43.4 out of 50, Rwanda tied with South Africa for the continent's highest score.
The report, published by the Washington-based Institute of International Finance (IIF), assesses 57 emerging and developing markets. It singled out Rwanda, one of only four newly added nations, as a global model of best practice.
Launched in 2025 under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN), Rwanda's sovereign investor relations program has quickly yielded results. This stellar performance signals a lucrative "transparency dividend," which helps lower borrowing costs, secures stable credit ratings, and builds robust economic resilience during times of stress.
By delivering clear and reliable communication on its fiscal and debt positions, Rwanda successfully positions itself as a premier, low-risk destination for highly selective global capital.
