Rwanda and Tanzania sign a landmark energy MoU to boost renewable power, infrastructure, and economic growth across East Africa.


Rwanda and Tanzania have signed a landmark energy MoU at the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit in Kigali, witnessed by Presidents Paul Kagame and Samia Suluhu. The agreement targets power infrastructure, renewable energy, and cross-border trade.

Rwanda’s Infrastructure Minister, Jimmy Gasore, highlighted the agreement’s economic weight.

“Energy is the backbone of development. It powers industries, supports businesses, enables digital transformation, improves social services, and enhances the quality of life of our citizens.”

Ministers Gasore added that the strategic platform will enable both nations to "deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest."
