The President of the United States, Donald Trump, is set to read selected Bible verses to Americans during an event that will also be attended by several senior officials, including the Secretary of Defense.

The event, scheduled for April 21, 2026, is titled “America Reads the Bible.” It will take place at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., and is expected to bring together a diverse audience.

The gathering will feature a number of prominent leaders and religious figures, including the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, and the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. Participants will read and discuss passages from the Bible, followed by a session of prayer.

According to CNN, some of the verses that President Trump is expected to read have already been identified. These passages are drawn from the Second Book of Chronicles, Chapter 7, verses 11–22.

The scripture recounts how Solomon completed the temple of the Lord and his royal palace, fulfilling all that he had planned in his heart. It also describes how the Lord appeared to Solomon at night, saying, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.”

This event comes at a time when social media has seen heated exchanges between President Trump and Pope Leo XIV over the Iran conflict, and where Trump also recently posted an AI-generated image portraying himself in a Christ-like form, which he later deleted.

Organizers of the event says  that President Trump was chosen to read this particular passage because of its significance to the nation. Meanwhile, analysts suggest that the event reflects the Trump administration’s intention to emphasize the role of religion in U.S. politics.
