At least eight people have been killed following an Israeli airstrike on the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, which cited the country’s Health Ministry.

Rescue teams continue clearing debris from damaged buildings, with officials reporting that 32 people were injured in the attack. The Israeli military has not immediately issued a statement regarding the strike.

The attack comes as efforts continue to maintain a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. US Ambassador to Beirut Michel Issa said negotiations between the two countries are expected to resume soon in Washington despite the latest escalation.

Following a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Issa said discussions remained on the “right track” and that diplomatic efforts would continue to support Lebanon through its ongoing crisis.

President Aoun has said talks with Israel are focused on establishing a non-aggression agreement, which could later lead to broader peace arrangements.

Meanwhile, tensions across the region remain high. Earlier reports said several strikes hit southern Lebanon, while Iran urged an end to the attacks and warned of a strong response if they continued.

The latest developments come as Israel and Iran have also experienced renewed confrontation, although both sides recently announced a pause in direct attacks following international pressure.

Regional observers warn that continued military actions could further threaten stability and complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a long-term resolution.
