President Paul Kagame lands in Brazzaville to attend the inauguration of Congo’s re-elected leader, highlighting strong Rwanda–Congo ties.


President Paul Kagame arrived in Brazzaville on Wednesday afternoon to take part in a major regional event, according to the Office of the President of the Republic of Rwanda.

Upon landing at Maya-Maya International Airport, President Kagame was welcomed by Anatole Collinet Makosso, reflecting the close diplomatic relations between the two nations.

President Kagame is in the Congolese capital to join fellow African leaders for the inauguration of Denis Sassou Nguesso, who recently secured another five-year term in office. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Unity Stadium.

The event is expected to draw high-level delegations from across the continent, underlining its importance as a moment of political continuity and regional cooperation.

The visit also underscores the enduring partnership between Rwanda and Republic of Congo. As noted by the Office of the President of Rwanda, both countries maintain a solid and longstanding partnership and strong bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, security, agriculture and land management, among others
