Two EAV/Gitwe Students Held After Violent Incident at School
Two female students from EAV/Gitwe Secondary School, located in Rukira Sector of Ngoma District, were arrested after allegedly attacking and seriously injuring their school supervisor before fleeing into a nearby forest.
According to a report from local authorities in Kibatsi Cell, the incident took place on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
The suspects, both 20 years old, were identified as Mukabaranga Clarisse and Shallon Anne Marie.
Reports indicate that the students assaulted their supervisor, Nyirabagenzi Ceraphine, after returning from evening study sessions to the dormitory area. It is alleged that they used a wooden object to beat her, causing severe injuries.
After the attack, the two students reportedly escaped by jumping over the school fence and hiding in a government-owned forest located about one kilometer from the school, near the former Kibatsi Cell offices.
Local leaders, together with security agencies including the Rwanda National Police and DASSO officers, later carried out a search operation. The suspects were found around midday and taken into custody.
They were transferred to the RIB station in Rukira for further investigation, while the injured supervisor officially filed a complaint with investigators.
